Even though this is much slicker and more commercial than the music I mostly go for, I still like this album quite a lot. Besides the heavy underground prog, psych, Krautrock, etc...that I favor, I am also quite fond of bands like STEELY DAN and LAKE, simply because their songwriting is good, and the musicianship is of a very high caliber. This is the case with Alkatraz.....They are a very well-produced, very professional, funky, jazzy, semi-prog band that have serious chops. This is a richly produced melodic album of soft rock jammin' funk music with great songs very well played, some hot guitar solos to keep rock fans happy and great vocals. So, if you are only into bands like the Welsh's MAN, Germany's SPERRMULL, or Italy's NEW TROLLS, then you probably won't like this too much, but if you also have an affinity for bands like STEELY DAN and LAKE, you will probably enjoy this band consisting of fine musicians, and their high-quality compositions.

Very "Man" West Coast Welsh. Fantastic guitar soloing lifts it above the ordinary.
